What is an anonymous Instagram story viewer?
Inside the Instagram app, opening a story is never private: the account that posted it gets a list of everyone who looked. An anonymous Instagram story viewer breaks that link. It fetches the public stories of an account on its own servers and shows them to you in an ordinary web page, so there is no Instagram account on your side for the view to be attached to.

Highlights and profile pictures, in the same place
Highlights are the stories an account decided to keep. View Story lists them above the live stories, so you can open one and browse stories that are months or years old, each with its original date. The profile picture can be opened and saved at full resolution instead of the tiny circle Instagram shows.
One search covers all of it. You do not need a second tool for highlights or a third one for the profile photo.
Why nobody can see you
Instagram records a story view only when a signed-in account opens the story. View Story never asks for your login and never acts through an account of yours, so there is no account to attach a view to. That is the whole mechanism: not a trick, not a setting, just the absence of a login.
When you search, our server requests the public profile and its public stories, then hands the media to your browser. Your identity is not part of that request. To the account owner, the view never happened.

Recent followers, under every profile
The follower and following counts under a profile open into lists. Recent followers shows the newest accounts that followed the profile, and Recently followed shows who the profile just started following. Handy for watching a creator grow or spotting a brand's newest connections.
The lists are read-only and anonymous: we only show what the public profile already exposes, and no one is told you looked.
No trace, on either side
Instagram is not told, the account owner is not told, and we keep no record. The usernames you search are not saved on our servers and the media is streamed to your browser rather than stored.

Usually one of three reasons: the account is private, it has no story live in the last 24 hours, or the username is misspelled. Check the handle on Instagram and try again. If a story just went up, give it a minute.
Is it legal to use an anonymous story viewer?
Viewing content that an account has made public is legal. View Story only shows public profiles, the same content anyone can see on instagram.com without following. Saving content for personal use is fine; redistributing someone's content without permission is not.
Do you store what I search or watch?
No. We do not keep a history of searched usernames or viewed media. Our privacy policy explains the little we do process to run the service, such as standard server logs.
Does View Story add a watermark to downloads?
No. Files are saved exactly as posted, with no watermark and no quality loss.
How is this different from Instagram's own app?
In the app, every story you open is recorded against your account and shown to the owner. View Story shows the same public stories without any account, so nothing is recorded. Can I see who viewed my own story?
Only Instagram can show that, inside the app under your story. No third-party tool, including View Story, can list who viewed your story. Be careful with any site that claims otherwise.
