View Story is designed to know as little about you as possible. This page describes the small amount of data involved in running the service.
No account, no login
View Story has no user accounts. We never ask for your Instagram username, password or any other credential. Nothing you do on the site is linked to an identity.
Searches and viewed content
The usernames you search are used only to fetch that public profile and are not saved to a database. Stories, highlights and profile pictures are streamed from Instagram's servers through ours to your browser and are not stored. Downloads are served in the same way.
Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider keeps standard access logs for a short period. These include the IP address, the requested URL, the time and the browser type. We use them only to keep the service running, to detect abuse and to fix errors. They are deleted automatically.
Bot protection
Searches are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which runs a silent check in your browser to tell people from automated scrapers. Cloudflare processes limited technical data for that purpose under its own privacy policy. No personal information is sent to us.
Cookies and local storage
View Story itself sets no tracking cookies. Your language choice is remembered by the URL, not a cookie. Advertising partners may set cookies as described below.
Advertising
The site is funded by display advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google's Ads Settings page, and learn more at Google's advertising privacy page. No ad network receives the usernames you search.
Analytics
If we enable analytics, it is limited to aggregate page views and basic device information, with IP addresses anonymized. We do not build profiles of individual visitors.
Children
View Story is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any data from them.
Your rights
Because we store no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete on request. If you believe we hold information about you, contact us and we will check.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top is updated. Significant changes are noted on this page.
